Child & Extra Bed Policy

• Child minding services can be arranged by the hotel staff upon request and are available at an additional cost, with a minimum of 24 hours’ notice required.
• The term “under the age” refers to any age up to, but not including, the specified age. Once a child reaches the specified age, they are no longer considered “under the age” and will be charged at the applicable rate.

Please note that Gorilla Trekking is only permitted for guests 15 years and older.

Age Classifications and Accommodation

• Children aged 0–4 years stay free of charge.
• A maximum of two children under 16 years may share with adults in the Family Cottage at no additional cost.
• Cots are available for children up to the age of 3, with a maximum of one cot per room, subject to availability.
• An additional nightly rate applies for children aged 5–9 years sharing in a Deluxe Cottage (full board basis only).
• Adult rates apply for children 13 years and older.

Gorilla Heights Lodge is thoughtfully maintained to the highest standards, with ongoing care, regular enhancements, and a dedicated team ensuring the lodge remains exceptional in both comfort and presentation.

In-room safes are currently being introduced. In the interim, guests may securely store valuables with the lodge management team for safekeeping during their stay.

• Nearest airstrip (Kisoro): Approximately 1 hour 30 minutes by road

Our team will assist in coordinating all transfers and trekking logistics.

• From Entebbe International Airport: Approximately 12 hours by road

Many guests choose to fly into Kigali due to the shorter transfer time. Airstrip transfers can also be arranged via domestic flights.

Guests spend up to one hour observing the gorillas once located. The full trekking experience may range from approximately 3 to 6 hours, depending on the location of the gorilla family and terrain conditions.

Gorilla Heights Lodge is ideally located just minutes from Nkuringo Gate and within convenient access to Rushaga Gate, offering excellent proximity to multiple trekking sectors.

Gorillas remain within protected forest areas. The lodge is separated by natural buffer zones, ensuring both guest safety and the preservation of wildlife habitats.

The lodge provides convenient access to the Nkuringo and Rushaga sectors of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Trekking sector allocation is determined by permit availability and guest preference.

Treks typically depart early in the morning, with guests leaving the lodge between 06:00 and 06:30 depending on their assigned trekking sector.

The lodge welcomes guests year-round. Peak seasons typically fall between June and September, and December to February, when trekking conditions are especially favourable.

Gorilla trekking requires a moderate level of fitness, as terrain can be steep and uneven. Our team will assist guests in preparing and ensuring they have the appropriate information and support.
