Serengeti Sojourn – Ndutu

From mid-December to the end of March, the camp is located in the Ndutu region, on a hilltop site – the perfect location from which to witness the migration and the wonders of the calving season. From this vantage point, stunning views of Lake Ndutu and iridescent sunsets can be absorbed too.

Directions

Serengeti Sojourn – Togoro

From the start of June to the end of October, the camp is located in the Togoro area, specifically Togoro 1, a 45-minute game drive from the Seronera airstrip. Migration herds spend ample time in the Togoro area before heading further north into Kogatende. The area is also well-known for its great sightings of cats and there are several kopjes (small hills) which provide spectacular viewing points.

The dining tent sets the location where personalised meals are served. Occasional bush meals are served near the camp and private dining can also be arranged on request. With advance notice, special dietary and drink requirements can be catered for.

It is recommended that guests pack in insect (particularly mosquito) repellent and anti-itch or antihistamine cream. It is advisable that guests contact their local travel clinic for advice on Malaria and Yellow Fever precautions and any other precautionary measures for visits to this region.

The Serengeti ecosystem is a geographical region in Africa, spanning northern Tanzania. The protected area within the region includes approximately 30 000 km² of land, including the Serengeti National Park and several game reserves.

The southern Ndutu region – located in Tanzania, on the border of Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Conservation Area – is predominantly characterised by sweeping grasslands and forests around Lake Ndutu.

The northern Lobo region – also located in Tanzania, but closer to the Kenyan border – is typically defined by its hilly and wooded landscape.

The climate in the Serengeti is mostly warm and dry although evenings can be chilly, especially during cooler months of the year, from June to October. The main rainy season takes place from March to May, but lighter rains also fall from October to November. When the lush vegetation dries up some time after the rains, animals seek out waters, driving migration patterns.

Average Day Temperatures:
29˚C (December to March)
28˚C (April to May)
27˚C (June to September)
29˚C (October to November)

What our clients say

The tent had everything we needed including warm water for our shower. The food was excellent and very plentiful and we really enjoyed the informal set up with the chance to sit at meals and converse with our wonderful guide/driver. Another special experience was sitting round the fire pit as the sun went down chatting with the other guests.

Lavarcham

Absolutely loved our stay at this camp! The staff were so friendly and helpful, making us feel welcome immediately.

Lucy Taylor

We did a 10 day safari around Tanzania and this was our last stay; it was also the best. A truly amazing safari experience in a luxury tent. Much better than all the lodges. We loved our stay, the camp fire, the sunset, the incredible service and we were very sad to leave.
