Serengeti Explorer Camp in Newmark Collection Boasts New Look
Posted on: 24 April 2019
The Serengeti Explorer Camp is situated within one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa, giving one the opportunity to witness the second largest terrestrial mammal migration in the world, Serengeti’s great wildebeest migration. Newmark is proud to be a part of this incredible natural phenomenon by providing a luxury tented camp experience.
The distinguished hotel property group announced its acquisition of Serengeti Explorer Camp in April 2018. The majestic camp changes location within Serengeti National Park which spans over a large region of Tanzania twice a year, following the masses of wildebeest and other animals, some of which belonging to the Big Five. In December 2018, the camp opened in Ndutu, in the southern region of the Serengeti, following a soft refurbishment.
New décor and fittings were introduced to mark the beginning of an exciting new chapter with neutral tones, wooden features and African-inspired patterns which perfectly complement the camp’s calming surroundings in each of its two locations.
Founder and Managing Director of Newmark, Neil Markovitz, comments: “Welcoming Serengeti Explorer Camp to the Newmark portfolio was a tremendous milestone. Everything about this property – the setting, the experience and the accommodation is truly remarkable.”
Serengeti Explorer Camp comprises 12 spacious and incredibly private tents, each offering top-end luxury accommodation which is ideally suited to couples and families. From 22 December to 31 March, the camp is located in the Ndutu region on the park’s border, near to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. From 1 June to 31 October, the camp is situated in the Lobo region in the northern part of the park, closer to the Kenyan border and in proximity to both the Grumeti River and the Mara River. The camp is not operational during the months of April, May and November, as well as early December due to migration periods. The location of the camp is situated in a unique area that ensures less vehicle congestion allowing guests to have an incomparable game viewing experience, which can be enjoyed by safari vehicle or by hot air balloon.
The location of the camp is situated in a unique area that ensures less vehicle congestion while the Rafiki Explorer Club is offered as a value add to families travelling with children aged 6 to 15, ensuring that children have an equally exhilarating experience.
Neil Markovitz concludes: “I can confidently say that a visit to Serengeti Explorer Camp will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We offer spectacular opportunities for our guests to experience Tanzania’s diversity by combining a visit to Serengeti Explorer Camp with a trip to our chic island destination, Chuini Zanzibar Beach Lodge. We take pride in offering guests a premier experience at each of our properties and are excited to do so with greater reach in eastern Africa.”
