New, ultra-luxurious Victoria Falls property introduced by Newmark Hotels & Reserves

Posted on: 13 November 2024 Written by: Newmark Hotels & Reserves

Cape Town, [12/11/2024] – Newmark Hotels & Reserves has announced that it will expand its luxury portfolio in Africa with the addition of the ultra-high-end Twalumba Lodge, set to open in proximity to the Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, in the fourth quarter of 2025.

The property is located on the Batoka Gorge, perched right above Rapid No. 5, along the Zambezi River. The lodge’s spectacular location will add to the property’s appeal as a “bucket-list” destination, completing a circuit of iconic African destinations within Newmark’s portfolio, including Cape Town and the Greater Kruger region.

Newmark, together with Experience Architects and the interior design team at Hinterland Studio, has spared no detail in ensuring that Twalumba Lodge will set a new precedent in exclusivity in the Victoria Falls region. The lodge will comprise 11 private cliff suites, each cantilevered on the edge of the gorge, with individual plunge pools boasting incredible views.

The cliff line is also interspersed with the main guest area, three distinct dining platforms, an open-air boma, shady lounges, an infinity-edge swimming pool, gym and spa treatment pods, an exercise deck, running track and a bird hide.

The architectural and design teams drew inspiration from the lodge’s thrilling setting and introduced intentional features that will give guests an immersive experience in nature, delighting both the luxury leisure traveller and the intrepid explorer at heart.

“When we design, we do so with the ultimate experience in mind. Victoria Falls has been a point of pilgrimage for many cultures for centuries, and Twalumba Lodge has been crafted for the explorer in all of us. The lodge’s design centres on the destination’s unimpeded views and nods to the reward of exploration,” explains Nick Randall, Architect at Experience Architects.

Newmark has additionally worked closely with Newmark’s Group Head Chef, Chris Erasmus, and Group Sommelier, Marlvin Gwese to curate a dining experience to match the exceptional tone throughout the property.

“We are tremendously enthusiastic about the introduction of Twalumba Lodge to our portfolio soon. It will encapsulate everything we stand for at Newmark, offering guests a truly authentic experience in an outstanding destination, with unique character and attention to detail,” says Neil Markovitz, Founder and CEO at Newmark Hotels & Reserves.

“Twalumba Lodge is a particularly special addition to our portfolio as we see the opportunity for guests to embrace some of the greatest aspects of Africa, including South Africa’s celebrated Cape region, the country’s Big-Five terrain, and now Zimbabwe’s widely celebrated Victoria Falls, all with easy connectivity and travel access between a number of our properties.”
