Following a hospitality agreement signed between Newmark Hotels and Blaauwklippen Wine Estate, we are thrilled to offer you a chance to stay at the centuries’ old Blaauwklippen Manor, a hidden gem of Stellenbosh.
Set on the oldest wine estate in the region, this Cape Dutch-style building dates back to 1682. The name ‘Blaauwklippen’ came from the blue stones that were found on the property when its wine farming began.
If you wish to escape the buzz of the city, take a drive to this tranquil setting and enjoy a peaceful, slow-paced retreat amidst open skies, vast winelands and charming hospitality.
An Enchanting Abode
Blaauwklippen Manor comprises two historic buildings designed with the romantic, detailed architectural design of the 17th century. It can accommodate up to 20 people in 10 luxurious bedrooms, each with its own unique, thoughtful decor. Tremendous care has been taken in creating rooms that are elegant while still comfortable and equipped with everything you need.
Feel right at home with the oversized beds, rich linens, bold floral wallpaper and garden or mountain views. Each bedroom has convenient modern amenities such as dual basins, complimentary toiletries, coffee & tea, bedroom slippers, Wi-Fi, DSTV, cupboards with hanging space, and more.
There is a spacious lounge with wall cupboards and beams dating back to the 1700s and vintage-style furniture. The state-of-the-art kitchen is stocked with cutlery and plates for stylish dining.
The Manor includes an 1800s chicken coop that has now been converted into an outdoor seating area. You can witness pieces of history all around the premises, from pieces of pottery to the 250-year-old fig tree on the terrace.
What’s to See in Blaauwklippen
Apart from the inviting pool at Blaauwklippen Manor, you can venture out and explore the surroundings on one of South Africa’s most popular, child-friendly wine farms. Sample the estate’s premium wines curated by winemaker Narina Cloete or visit the Blaauwklippen Art Gallery and farm gym.
Stroll through the outdoor market held on the estate every weekend, where you can enjoy wholesome foods, smoothies, and local, handmade crafts. Biking enthusiasts will love the Bike Park and Pump Track.
