Corona virus lockdown
Posted on: 1 April 2020
We have spent the past four decades taking great pride in creating a brand that stands for people and purpose. As we have grown, so has our Newmark community – our guests, our team and all our partners who bring a significant amount of passion to us.
No one could ever have imagined the magnitude of this global pandemic due to COVID-19. And, even with all our contingency plans executed, this is an unprecedented event, complex in nature – one that necessitated an unpredictable path. To this end, we honour our President’s course of action in instituting a nationwide lockdown to flatten the curve of this virus.
We have always been committed to one truth: the safety of our people. In upholding our core values and in collaboration with the South African government, we are pausing our operations for 21 days.
As of 26 March 2020, we will temporarily close all of the hotels within our Newmark portfolio to join South Africa and the rest of the world in solidarity in fighting the COVID-19 virus.
We want to reassure you that we are moving forward in this historic time with preparedness, action and togetherness.
Here’s what you need to know during this 21-day pause period:
- All Newmark Hotels, Reserves, Lodges and Residences will be closed from 26 March 2020.
- Our team is fully operational remotely and available online during this time.
- We will not be accepting bookings for stays over the lockdown period.
- Please contact us during this lockdown period to book your accommodation post 16 April 2020.
We look forward to welcoming you back and extending our hospitality, but for now, our priority is to ensure we all stay safe.
Please look after yourselves, put your health first and don’t take any risks. While it’s an unsettling time, we must lean on each other, now more than ever, remembering that ‘in union there is strength’.
Sincerely
Neil Markovitz
