Heritage comes in all forms, shapes and locations. This September, we answer your yearning for connection to the past with premium hospitality offerings enriched by their history.
The Dockhouse
With a heritage as solid as the rock on which it was built, The Dockhouse is worth visiting. It was built in 1880 as the home of Cape Town Harbour’s first resident engineer. Victorian design elements such as pressed ceilings and elaborate mantelpieces remain to this day.
The building's surrounding slate wall and the neighbouring 1894 Time Ball Tower are visual reminders of the area’s fascinating history and development.

Victoria & Alfred Hotel
Queen Victoria and her son, Prince Alfred, were closely involved with the construction of Breakwater Basin, which became Cape Town’s first harbour (today’s beloved V&A Waterfront).
The Victoria & Alfred Hotel pays homage to its namesakes and has been a revered icon since it was built in 1904 as the North Quay Warehouse. Book into one of the 94 curated rooms with mesmerising views of Alfred Basin, where historical figures once traversed.

The Winchester Hotel
This landmark hotel on Sea Point Promenade has been adored for its elegant beauty since 1922, when it served as a residential apartment block called The Winchester Mansions.
Harvey’s Bar is named after Mr and Mrs Harvey, who bought the building in 1958 and transformed it into a hotel. After several refurbishments over the years, it retains its classic Cape Dutch architecture.

Motswari Private Game Reserve
In 1975, Motswari was a wildlife breeding site, which was later acquired by the late conservation legend Paul Gieger in 1980. His family fell in love with the region, and he eventually bought the entire game reserve, working for the well-being of the land, its animals, and the people.
Paul’s daughter Marion owns the park and keeps its history alive through its vintage safari style, heirlooms and ongoing conservation efforts.

Newmark Properties on UNESCO World Heritage Sites
Future Found Sanctuary is tucked into Table Mountain National Park, a World Heritage Site with unique biodiversity. It forms part of the Cape Floral Region, home to around 9500 plant species.

A visit to Qwabi Private Game Reserve takes you to one of only two UNESCO-declared savannah biospheres in Africa that protects the Big Five as well as the endangered ground hornbill.

Nkomazi Private Game Reserve, 15,000 hectares of natural diversity, is home to protected Highveld and Lowveld game species and abundant birdlife and cradles rock art dating back thousands of years.

Mount Camdeboo Camdeboo National Park
Here, guests can visit the Valley of Desolation, a geological formation consisting of dolerite columns believed to have formed over 200 million years ago. The park surrounds Graaff-Reinet, the oldest town in the Eastern Cape.
