Dining at Bupenyu Lodge is designed to enrich the guest experience, offering a journey of the senses and creating exquisite memories.
Mealtimes unfold in various locations, occasionally with show kitchens for added sophisticated theatrical flair. Dining takes place in the main restaurant and the outdoor boma or — by special request — in the privacy of guests’ suite or villa, or in the intimate bird hide.
A variety of dining styles is embraced, from floating breakfasts, harvest tables, à la carte menu options and casual, grab-and-go salad lunches to boma braais, buffet dinners, as well as elevated bush dining with fine dining flair.
Sustainability conscious dining








Our culinary team prepares fresh, flavourful masterpieces for every dish, inspired by local, traditional African cuisine. Menu items have been meticulously curated with sustainability in mind, using fresh, authentic ingredients sourced predominantly from our own garden, The Orchard.
We focus on growing indigenous produce in our garden, enabling the use of hyper-local ingredients, but also rely on other local suppliers which allows us to support nearby community members.
Guests are afforded the opportunity to harvest produce and learn about these food items and how they are grown during guided tours of The Orchard.
All-day poolside dining









As an extension of our dining offering, we have created an all-day poolside menu that incorporates a selection of light, healthy and refreshing items that combine thoughtful flavour combinations and unexpected creativity — complementing the culinary journey enjoyed throughout the luxury boutique lodge.

Our chef-prepared picnic baskets are available by special request and are filled with fresh, seasonal and flavourful delicacies — the perfect accompaniment on a daytrip or sightseeing adventure beyond Bupenyu Lodge.

Sunsets are a wondrous highlight at Bupenyu Lodge, where the dramatic landscape amplifies the painted evening skies. In true Southern African safari tradition, guests can celebrate this golden hour with our signature gin tastings — a nod to the enduring popularity of the gin and tonic across the region. At our build-your-own-gin station, guests can explore premium gins paired with complementary herbs, fruits, and tonic waters, creating a personalised sundowner ritual that honours the spirit of safari. For those seeking other tastes, a selection of additional alcoholic and non-alcoholic options is always available, ensuring a bespoke experience for every guest.
