Mostwari Private Game Reserve is committed to providing the best possible safari experience for guests from all over the world. With this in mind, careful consideration goes into curating the finest team of dedicated, passionate and enthusiastic rangers that go out of their way to ensure visitors have the opportunity to enjoy the very best of what the African bush has to offer. Game drives and nights around the fire at Motswari provide the perfect opportunity for rangers to share their incredible vast knowledge and personal experiences with guests. The Timbavati and Umbabat Nature Reserve are home to an exquisite abundance of wildlife, ranging from the Big Five and lesser-known animal species, to insects, birds and the diverse array of plant life. The rangers all have many exciting stories and insights to share and their extraordinary encounters and captivating tales have kept many a guest enthralled and entertained, making their Motswari experience both memorable and rewarding.
One such ranger, who we are proud to introduce this week, is Shaun Jenkinson. Born and raised on a sugarcane farm on the north coast of Kwa-Zulu Natal, Shaun’s passion for nature was inspired at a very young age. Constantly exploring the outdoors, immersing himself in nature and spending holidays with his family at the Kruger National Park make up his fondest childhood memories and the farm was extremely close to his heart. After completing a degree in Sports Management, Shaun’s family sold the beloved farm, immediately making him question his own plans for his future. With an insatiable passion for the environment and wildlife he decided to venture off the path he had mapped for himself and instead, embark on a career that would enable him to pursue this passion.
Shaun studied at the NJ More Field Guide College, inside the Marakele National Park which forms part of the immaculate Waterberg Biosphere. With a strong focus on reverence and respect for the environment, NJ More Field Guide College chooses its participants scrupulously, and only train those with a genuine and tangible passion for nature, as well as the ability to share it with people from around the world. Shaun passed with flying colours and soon joined the exceptional team at Motswari.
Motswari has become a second home to Shaun and he loves being able to share his incredible knowledge with guests. He has a keen eye for nature photography and loves to seek out his favourite animal, the enigmatic leopard. He is passionate in his commitment to practicing a balanced approach to human vs eco-system at all times and is truly a ranger who guides from the heart.
Motswari is a truly special place that Newmark, the Motswari team and all of the reserve’s dedicated rangers hold close to their hearts. We look forward to sharing more thoughts from our rangers with you and, even more so, to welcoming you to the reserve in the near future.
