Located north of KwaZulu-Natal and bordering Swaziland and Mozambique, Mpumalanga is no doubt among the most strikingly beautiful regions in South Africa. It is one of the smallest provinces in the country but its natural diversity is vast, including winding mountain passes, valleys, forests, rivers and waterfalls.
The region is also well known for its game reserves, including the Kruger National Park, and the fact that it is home to the Big Five and an abundance of other wildlife. Its flora is likewise plentiful and diverse. Game viewing, bird watching and sightseeing are therefore cherished activities in this area, which draw tourists from near and far.
Various areas in the province offer relaxing and adventurous outdoor activities such as horse riding, hiking, mountain biking and white-water rafting, among others. Quaint towns and cultural villages offer fascinating insight into Mpumalanga’s story and its history, and reflect the traditions of its people. All things considered, it is plain to see why this region is referred to as “Paradise Country”.
